The Rent Penalty<\/strong> feature allows you to charge tenants an additional percentage of their rent<\/strong> if they fail to renew their rent by the due date. The penalty is applied based on the selected period<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

How to Enable and Use the Feature<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  1. Set Penalty for a Property:<\/strong>
    <\/strong>\n
      \n
    • When creating a property or editing an existing property, go to:
      Management \u2192 Property \u2192 Create Rental Property or<\/strong> Manage Existing Property.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Set Penalty<\/strong> to Yes<\/strong> to apply it to all units of the property.
      <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Document Updates for Tenant Consent:<\/strong>
      <\/strong>\n
        \n
      • Once penalty is enabled, the relevant clause will appear in the property document for tenants to consent during rent initiation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • To create or edit this document, go to:
        Document \u2192 Select Property \u2192 Create\/Edit Document.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • For new rent agreements, you can manage documents via:
        Management \u2192 Rent & Management \u2192 Start Rent.

      • Effect on Tenants Using the App:<\/strong>

        • Tenants will not be able to renew rent<\/strong> via the app until the due rent plus the penalty<\/strong> is paid.

          Important Notes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
            \n
          • The feature is optional<\/strong> and can be activated or deactivated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • If deactivated after a rent agreement has started<\/strong>, it will not affect ongoing rents<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Carefully review and understand the feature before applying it to a property.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • You can set your preferred penalty percentage<\/strong> based on the chosen charge period.

            Rent Penalty Quick Guide<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            • Purpose:<\/strong> Charge tenants an extra percentage of rent<\/strong> if they fail to renew on time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Enable Penalty:<\/strong>
              <\/strong> Management \u2192 Property \u2192 Create or Edit Property \u2192 Set Penalty = Yes<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Tenant Consent:<\/strong> Penalty clause automatically appears in property documents; manage via:
              Document \u2192 Select Property \u2192 Create\/Edit Document<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • App Effect:<\/strong> Tenants cannot renew rent<\/strong> via the app until the due rent plus penalty<\/strong> is paid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Optional Feature:<\/strong> Can be activated or deactivated. Deactivating or Activating does not affect existing rents<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Set Percentage:<\/strong> Choose based on your preferred charge period.

              How to Save Changes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              1. After editing any section, click the \u201cUpdate\u201d<\/strong> button to apply the changes across your company dashboard and website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              2. Once the update is successful, a confirmation email<\/strong> will be sent to your registered company email address<\/strong> to acknowledge the change.
